Trauma changes who we are.

Trauma refers to any experience which makes you feel powerless, alone, unsafe and overwhelms your nervous system. If you do not receive kindness, validation, and appropriate support at that time, that experience can be stored in your body and mind as trauma, affecting brain integration, nervous system function, physical health, self-image and daily functioning throughout the lifespan.

Everyone has experienced trauma at least once in their life, so you are not alone.

Experiencing trauma can make you feel unsafe, even when there is no immediate threat, which makes it difficult to trust yourself or others and makes closeness and vulnerability challenging.

Trauma can heal.

As a qualified counsellor with a master’s degree and trauma survivor, I know healing trauma is possible over time. It is important to process trauma without reliving it, by slowly increasing distress tolerance, self-compassion, and self-care. Receiving compassion and validation from a trusted and qualified registered clinical counsellor can help you make sense of what you feel and need and help you regain a sense of personal power.

It’s never too late to call and find out how you can begin healing.

Things can get better. Talking helps.
