Get over it! (Sorry, there’s no easy button)

I want this to stop.

I want everything to be okay again.

I can’t take this anymore.

How many times have you had these kinds of thoughts? So often I hear clients say they want to get over something, fix something or make it go away. Feeling emotions like fear, shame, disappointment or resentment can become intense and challenging to endure.

These heavy, dark moments can feel like forever and it’s easy to understand why you may want to skip the storm and get to the rainbow at the end.

Anxiety, trauma, addiction, shame, ADHD, low self confidence cannot be fixed. Only when you allow yourself to feel pain can you process and begin to heal it over time. To do that you need a compassionate counsellor with a Master’s degree and specialized training who can help you avoid becoming overwhelmed or retraumatized and make sense of what you feel and need.

When you stop yourself from feeling you are inviting those difficult emotions to stay.
