ADHD Counselling for Cranbrook, BC and Surrounding Areas

What is ADHD, anyway?
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects executive functioning, including focus, prioritising, impulse control, emotion regulation, memory, and learning from mistakes. It is often misunderstood, leading to judgement, unrealistic expectations, and labels such as “lazy” or “difficult,” which can erode self esteem and increase shame. ADHD can feel isolating and frustrating.
ADHD is a popular topic in counselling these days but is not well understood by the public. Research on how ADHD impacts girls and women didn’t start until the 1990’s.
I work with clients who are wondering if they have ADHD and those with an official diagnosis.

ADHD Brains are wired differently from the beginning and that is okay.
As a counsellor trained in supporting adults with ADHD, I help clients understand how their brains work, develop practical coping strategies, and build organisation and focus. Together, we identify strengths, reduce self criticism, process the pain of feeling judged and misunderstood, and support you in feeling more capable and in control.
Things can get better. Talking helps.
